Kyle Orton (born November 14, 1982) is an American football quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League. He played college football at Purdue, where he started four straight bowl games. He was from the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. After an injury to starter Rex Grossman, Bears, Orton was pressed into service as a quarterback in his rookie year, starting the first 14 games of the 2005 season, but was replaced by Grossman for the playoffs this year.

Kyle Orton did not play in 2006, and sparingly in 2007. Orton won his starting job from Grossman in 2008, but the team finished a disappointing 9-7 and out of the playoffs. In the off season of the year he was traded to the Denver Broncos.

Kyle Orton Broncos began his career well and won his first six games into the 2009 season, but injuries he hobbled into the second half of the season. Although Orton played well when healthy, threw 21 touchdowns, only 12 complaints, the team finished 8-8 and made the playoffs. Orton began the 2010 season as the starting quarterback spot, although the team was not competitive in most of the season and finished 4-12.

Kyle Orton was hurt again and replaced by Tim Tebow for the last three games of the 2010 season. In 2011 he began the season as a starter, but he was replaced by Tebow again after a disappointing start to the season. After several weeks on the bench, in which he is not child’s play for the Broncos, he was on the 22nd of the Broncos Published November and claimed off of waivers from the Kansas City Chiefs the next day.

Orton had a solid season (2972 yards, 18 passing touchdowns, 12 interceptions). The Bears finished 9-7 but missed the playoffs, the team was looking for a new front office to quarterback in the off season.

• 2009: After the Broncos traded, Kyle Orton named the quarterback coach Josh McDaniels was in June. This was the first time in Orton NFL career was he was the unquestioned starter heading into training camp. Orton and the Broncos went 6-0 to start the season with Orton throwing nine touchdown passes and only one interception in this circuit. • 2010: Kyle Orton put up the best numbers of his NFL career passing on to start his second season in Denver, with four 300-yard games in the first five weeks. But big passing numbers do not translate into victories. A week after being fired McDaniels, Orton suffered a rib injury in a loss to Arizona.
